Dr. Larsen has dedicated this book, and much of his professional career, to American workers.

Although the current COVID-19 pandemic has increased appreciation of first responders, similar to what was seen post 9-11, Dr. Larsen has dedicated this book, and much of his professional career, to American workers and their collective ongoing contribution to our greater good. We can honor them through a thoughtful read of the cases he shares, reminding ourselves to not take what they do for all of us for granted.

  1. May I simply say what a comfort to discover somebody who genuinely knows what they are talking about over the internet. You actually understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More people ought to check this out and understand this side of the story. I cant believe you arent more popular because you surely possess the gift.

    • Mr. Press is too kind. I do agree that we should not take first responders for granted. Cops & firefighters have demanding jobs where they make crucial decisions in during critical incidents. The physical & psychological tole can be enormous. Burnout is a real phenomenon for these domestic warriors. Let me acknowledge Eyal’s insightful book Dirty Work. Many workers pay a heavy price for just showing up at work, especially as he reveals for those working in corrections, drone warfare, food processing and high-tech production. I’m planning on a sequel to Wounded Workers, tentatively titled America’s Most Dangerous Jobs. It will tell more tales of real workers in logging, commercial fishing, roofing & other industries with unusually high serious injury & mortality rates. Stay safe.
